Description

Description:

His workshop will explore how generative psychotherapy can help clients activate the creative consciousness needed to live their lives in positive, fulfilling ways. This process requires the cultivation of self-leadership (and self-COACH) skills, such that a person’s performance self and observer self-work in a mutually respectful, harmonious pattern. The workshop presents some core methods of this approach, including somatic modeling, self-scaling, and engaging the creative unconscious. A demonstration and multiple case examples will illustrate how such methods can allow psychotherapy to be a deeply positive, effective conversation.

Educational Objectives:

  1. Identify three aspects of a self-leadership state.
  2. Describe three methods for developing each of these aspects in the client.
  3. Describe three ways that self-leadership processes can create positive therapeutic change.

Stephen Gilligan Ph.D., is a Psychologist in Encinitas, CA. He was one of the original NLP students at UC Santa Cruz; Milton Erickson and Gregory Bateson were his mentors. After receiving his psychology doctorate from Stanford University, he became one of the premier teachers and practitioners of Ericksonian hypnotherapy. This work unfolded into his original approaches of Self-Relations and Generative Self, and then further (in collaboration with Robert Dilts) into Generative Coaching. These different traditions have all been updated and integrated into the present Generative Change Work, which includes the applications of Generative Coaching, Generative Psychotherapy, Generative Trance, Hero’s Journey, and Systemic Change work.
