Short Description:
The Love Code provides a metaphor to explore the neural mechanisms underlying how and why we attach, bond, fall in love and seek out safe and trusted others in an unsafe world. This presentation will explore the body’s need for intimate engagement and social bonding from an adaptive perspective. Within the theoretical context of the Polyvagal Theory, the presentation will illustrate how specific features in our social environment may trigger neurophysiological systems, through a process of “neuroception,” that enables us either to be fearful and disengage or to feel safe and enter enduring intimate relations.

Terry Real’s Relational Life Therapy ™ deals with the most stuck, most intractable cases by dealing squarely with issues of character. His Relationship Bootcamp begins with this slogan: “Other Workshops Teach You Skills: We Deal With the Part of You That Won’t Use Them.” WHAT you do matters less than WHICH PART OF YOU is at the wheel—the mature, present part of you, or an immature, triggered part of you. “We teach individuals in couples how to be relational—changing each individual’s character as we change the relationship between them.”

Short Description:
Footprintings is a new three dimensional treatment model. In this work, nine different color sets of Footprintings become tools for a patient to bookmark, diagram, track and explore internal experience and shifting states of consciousness, as they are experienced in the Present Moment. When a patient chooses color Footprintings to represent an aspect of self-experience, positions these Footprintings on the ground and then stands in them, the postural shifts , body experience, and shifting perspectives and associations unfolding from this positioning can lead to valuable insights, learning opportunities and new perspectives.

Short Description:
BT12 Workshop 30 – Changing the Doing, Viewing and Context: The Essence of All Brief Therapy – Bill O’Hanlon, MS After making a connection with and establishing a relationship with the client, I contend that all brief therapy relies on some variation or combination of three interventions: Changing the doing (actions/interactions), changing the viewing (focus of attention and meaning attribution/interpretation) and changing the context (the social or physical environment) involved in or around the problem. The session will give details about how to conceptualize and implement these shifts in brief clinical work.

BT12 Workshop 31 – It Takes One to Tango: Doing Couples Therapy with Individuals – Michele Weiner-Davis, MSW, LCSW That only one partner is willing to seek relationship therapy should not deter therapists since there is much that can be accomplished. In fact, there are occasions when working with only one partner is preferable. This workshop will explore these situations and offer therapists a conceptual framework for conducting relationship oriented sessions with one partner present.

You will learn to rapidly assess the stages of change (precontemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance) and then to match processes of change specific to that stage. “Doing the right thing at the right time” is the key to efficient change. This workshop features focused lectures, clinical examples, practice exercises, interactive discussions, and participants’ own case material.
