Topical Panel 11 from the Evolution of Psychotherapy 2005 - Role of the Therapist/Role of the Client
Featuring Claudia Black, PhD; William Glasser, MD; Salvador Minuchin, MD; and Ernest Rossi, PhD
Moderated by Brent Geary, PhD
Lecture, group and individual demonstrations with volunteers from the audience will illustrate Rossi's activity-dependent approaches to therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy that are consistent with the theory and research on the molecular-genomic level plasticity for the creative reconstruction of mind, memory and consciousness.
The Molecular-Genomic core of therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy is identified as the 90-120 minute process that neuroscientists currently term "long term potentiation," which is believed to be the molecular basis of brain plasticity, memory and learning.
This session will present group and individual demonstrations of basic ideodynamic approaches to therapeutic hypnosis utilizing Rossi's innovative activity-dependent creative work with hand signaling.

The implication of current research in neuroscience is that psychological experiences of novelty, enrichment, and exercise activate gene expression and brain plasticity (growth) in therapeutic hypnosis and psychotherapy. What does this mean for the actual clinical practice and rehabilitation as well as creative everyday living?
Over the past 20 years Dr. Rossi has innovatively expanded Ericksonian work by demonstrating its connections to microbiology, chemistry, physics, chaos theory and mathematics. This course will explore the relationship and relevance of Dr. Rossi's mind- body work to other forms of psychotherapy. We will learn how mind-body work utilizes and integrates many of the core processes used in the work of Winnecott, Klein, Jung, Gestalt, Masterson, Kohut and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
